It reads your Mac. It does not report on you.
Last updated 4 October 2026.
The short version
Glancefold has no account, no analytics and no telemetry. The app reads your Mac to draw the fold, the shape that opens out of the notch, and keeps what it reads on the Mac. This website sets no cookies and runs no trackers. Off your Mac we hold two kinds of thing about you: the order and licence record from a purchase, and a crash report if the app crashes. Each is described below.
The app
Glancefold reads calendar events and reminders, what is playing and its artwork, battery and thermal state, the battery levels of AirPods over Bluetooth, volume, brightness and the keyboard backlight, camera and microphone use, the timers, stopwatch and alarms the Clock app is running, and what you copy, screenshot or drop on the shelf. All of it comes through Apple's own frameworks or from files the system already keeps, such as your screenshots folder, is used to draw the fold, and stays on your Mac. The app contains no analytics or advertising SDK and assigns you no identifier.
The clipboard shelf
The shelf is stored on your disk, in the app's own folder, and nowhere else. Anything marked concealed, transient or auto-generated by the app that copied it, which is how password managers mark what they copy, is never stored; that is checked before a byte is read, and it is not a setting. Items you have not pinned are deleted 30 days after you last used them. From the menu bar or the Clipboard window you can pause the shelf, clear the history and remove any item.
The words inside a screenshot are recognised on your Mac by Apple's Vision framework so the shelf is searchable. This is the one thing the app stores that records what was on screen rather than what you copied, so it has its own switch, Read Text in Screenshots, on by default. No text, image or file from the shelf ever leaves the Mac.
What leaves the Mac
By default, three things, and only these:
- A crash report, if Glancefold crashes. It describes the state of the app at the moment it failed so we can fix the bug.
- Your licence key, sent to Dodo Payments when you activate and every few hours after, so it can count the Macs a licence is used on and tell the app whether the licence is still active. It stores the key, the Mac's name and the time of activation.
- A Spotify track ID, sent to Spotify's public artwork endpoint when Spotify is the player, because Spotify does not hand artwork to the Mac. Apple's players do, so no request is made for them. Like any request to Spotify it carries your IP address, and Spotify's handling of it is covered by Spotify's privacy policy.
Two features are off until you switch them on, and each sends your location when it is on:
- Weather on an empty calendar day sends your coordinates, rounded to about a kilometre, to Open-Meteo, at most once every half hour.
- Time to leave asks Apple Maps for the travel time from where you are to the address of a meeting, which sends both to Apple under Apple's privacy policy.
The free trial sends nothing. Its start date is kept in your Mac's login keychain, so reinstalling the app does not start it again, and it never leaves the Mac.
Permissions
The app asks for Calendar and Reminders for meetings, Accessibility for the volume and brightness keys and for pasting on click, a screenshot folder you choose, and Location only if you switch on weather or time to leave. Each is granted and revoked by you in System Settings and is used only for the feature named in the prompt. The core of the app runs with none of them. Nothing asks for Screen Recording.
This website
glancefold.com is a static site. It sets no cookies, loads no analytics and embeds nothing from advertising networks. Our hosting provider keeps ordinary server logs, such as the address a request came from and the page it asked for, for a short period to run the service.
Purchases
Payment is handled by Dodo Payments, which sells Glancefold as our reseller. It collects what a card payment needs and shares with us your email address, the country used for tax, and the order itself. We never see your card number. We keep the order record and the licence it created for as long as your licence is valid, and as long as tax law requires.
Your rights
Write to support@glancefold.com to see what we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted. Deleting a licence record ends the licence.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. A change that affects what leaves your Mac will also be described in the app's release notes.
