What does Glancefold need to run?
A Mac running macOS 15 or later. It is made for MacBooks with a notch, but a notch is not required: on a Mac or display without one, Glancefold draws its own island at the top of the screen your pointer is on, with the same activities and the same motion. On the site we call the black shape that grows out of the notch the fold.
How much is it?
$50, once, for a lifetime licence. There is no subscription. Download Glancefold and use all of it for 7 days first, with no account and no card. Buy when you are ready, and your licence key arrives by email.
How does the price compare with other notch apps?
Like most of them, Glancefold is a one-time purchase, and it does more for the price: a clipboard shelf that searches the words inside your screenshots, meeting join links, Clock timers and the volume and brightness bubbles are each a separate app elsewhere, or not available at all. Three Macs, every update. Try it free for 7 days first and only buy if it is worth it.
Can I get a refund?
The 7-day free trial takes the place of a refund: you can use everything before you pay anything, so a purchase is not refunded. If you were charged by mistake, write to support@glancefold.com from the address on your order.
How does the free trial work?
The trial starts the first time you open Glancefold on a Mac and runs for 7 days. It asks for nothing. After 7 days the fold stays behind the notch until you enter a licence key. Deleting and reinstalling the app does not start a new trial on the same Mac.
How many Macs can I use it on?
Up to three at once. Deactivate a Mac yourself from the app and the seat is free for another, no email required. If a Mac is gone before you could deactivate it, write to support@glancefold.com and we will free the seat.
Are updates included?
Yes. Every update is included for as long as Glancefold is developed. There are no paid upgrades.
Which permissions does it ask for?
None at first launch. Meetings ask for Calendar and Reminders. Screenshots on the shelf ask you to pick the folder your screenshots save to, because that is where macOS puts them. Replacing the system volume and brightness bubbles asks for Accessibility, because that is the only way an app can see those key presses; so does pasting from the shelf on click. Each is asked for once, when the feature first needs it, and everything else keeps working if you say no. Nothing asks for Screen Recording.
Is my clipboard safe on the shelf?
It stays on your Mac. Anything marked concealed or transient, which is how password managers mark what they copy, is never stored. You can pause the shelf from the menu bar, clear the history, and turn off reading text in screenshots. Items you have not pinned are deleted 30 days after you last used them.
Which players does it show?
Anything macOS knows is playing: Apple Music, Spotify, Podcasts, a video in Safari or Chrome. Artwork comes from the player. Spotify does not hand it to the Mac, so the track's ID is sent to Spotify's public artwork endpoint to fetch it. That is the only network request made while music plays. The privacy policy lists everything that leaves the Mac.
Can it start a timer?
No, on purpose. macOS gives apps no way to start Clock's timers, and every workaround has to click through Clock's windows on your screen. So Glancefold shows the timer, stopwatch or alarm that Clock already has, lets you pause or cancel it from the notch, and leaves starting one to Clock and Siri.
What leaves my Mac?
By default, three things: a crash report if it crashes, your licence key when you activate it and when the app checks it, and a Spotify track ID to fetch artwork when Spotify is playing. Two features you can switch on send your location: weather sends it rounded to about a kilometre, and time to leave asks Apple Maps for the trip to a meeting's address. There is no account, no analytics and no telemetry. The privacy policy has the full list.
Where do I report a bug?
To support@glancefold.com. Say which Mac and macOS version you are on and what the fold was showing at the time.
